Day 5

Forty Days of Prayer for Our Country- Day 5

Scripture:
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.  Philippians 1:9-11

Thought for the day:
"Each time, before you intercede, be quiet first and worship God in his glory.  Think of what he can do and  how he delights to hear the prayers of his redeemed people.  Think of your place and privilege in Christ and expect great things!"  Andrew Murray

Prayer:
Father God, before I lift to you my requests, help me to be quiet and worship you for who you are - a God who delights to show mercy, a God who is glorious, a God who is worthy of my praise in this moment, a God who wants to fill your people with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ.  As I worship you God, show me the depth of what these things mean...

Prayer Points for Today:
- Pray that you and all God's people would be have a love that would abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.
- Pray that we, God's people may be able to discern what is best.  Lord teach us to pray for our country.
- Pray that in a sinful world, we may grow in purity until the day of Christ.

Memory Verse for the Week:
"If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all."  Isaiah 7:9  Can you say it yet?  Give it a try now.

Challenge for the Week - Voter Registration
The last day to register to vote for the November 6 election is October 9.  Do you know someone who is eligible but might not be registered to vote?  A child who is at least 18 by election day?  A grandchild?  A student who is away at college?  A new neighbor?  Ask, encourage, and equip them.  We have a few voter registration cards in the church office.

There is less than a week to be registered to vote, now is the time to encourage those who might not be registered.
